Charles Tandonnet, VP Growth Program at Travelsoft, presented a number of concrete use cases already deployed by the group's various subsidiaries (Atcore, Eventiz, Orchestra, Tigerbay, Traffics, Travel Compositor, Travel Connection Technology, Travelgate and Travelsoft Services) during his speech at the Future of Travel Distribution, organised by Eventiz on Thursday 13 March 2025.

Beware of fake AI experts

Before exploring the applications of artificial intelligence in the travel sector, it is essential to be discerning. Many self-proclaimed “experts” abound on LinkedIn and elsewhere, as they had already done for CRMs, blockchains or metaverses. Misinformation disseminated requires seven times more effort to be denied.

If AI raises a lot of expectations and announcements, without knowing the future for sure, its impact will be massive. Travelsoft has already deployed five concrete use cases that are transforming the customer experience and processes in the travel industry.

  1. Natural language research

A traveller's conversion journey goes through a conversion tunnel marked by several stages: awareness, inspiration, consideration, and then booking. Classic search engines work well in the consideration phase, but TheConversational AI makes it easy to get inspired. Travel Compositor, in Spain, has already adopted this technology. The customer can formulate a request in natural language, and the platform then offers him three targeted offers, thus simplifying decision-making. Present in Southern Europe and Latin America, Travel Compositor offers travel booking platforms at the cutting edge of technology, and is distinguished by its multi-destination “à la carte” solution, recognized as one of the best in the sector. In particular, this is the technology used by the Marietton group actor “Travel Explorer”.

  1. Personalized suggestions without generative AI

In Germany, Traffics uses a system of intelligent recommendations based on the analysis of customer behavior. Without using generative AI, but relying on algorithms based on natural language data, it offers accurate and relevant suggestions based on customer knowledge.

Essential reminder: if AI is the queen, data is the king! Without quality data, artificial intelligence remains limited.

3. Automatic criteria

AI also makes it possible to enrich and structure data automatically. Rather than manually criteria an offer based on 150 specific criteria (seaside, water sports, PMR accessibility, spa, etc.), an algorithm identifies and applies this structured information on a large scale to products. This automation can replace the time-consuming and continuous manual work necessary for distribution actors and promises better precision and richness of results.

4) Assisted coding

“Vibe coding” is a concept that will gain in popularity in the coming weeks. However, although AI accelerates some of the work of developers by saving them time — in particular by simplifying the search in documentation of several dozen pages —, it will not replace the ability to fully understand user needs and their integration into an application with hundreds of functionalities. A good engineer with the ability to abstract and understand needs remains essential to design complex solutions. AI is still an assistive tool today. Even the most powerful magic wand needs a skilled sorcerer to create enchantings.

5) Dora, the cabin to inspire

Unveiled at ITB Berlin in March 2025, Dora is an immersive cabin available in two versions (1.20 m x 1.20 m or 1.20 m x 1.70 m), which can accommodate up to four people in its largest version. Located in train stations, airports or museums, this travel vending machine will allow travelers to discover and book tourist experiences through an AI virtual agent. Equipped with two interactive screens, this soundproof cabin offers a smooth user experience thanks to a combination of voice commands and an intuitive graphical interface.. Its marketing is scheduled for June 2025 and the tool will be presented at the VivaTech exhibition from 11 to 14 June 2025.
